Today JavaScript is the world’s most popular programming language. It’s estimated that about 9.7 Million developers use JavaScript. But what exactly is JavaScript? When was it invented? Who invented it? And why is it so popular? We will cover all of that in the following sections.
What is JavaScript?
JavaScript is an object-oriented programming language commonly used for creating web pages. It is estimated that JavaScript is used as client-side programming for about 95% of all websites.
When Was it Invented?
JavaScript was invented in 1995. The language was first named Mocha, but then called LiveScript, but eventually it was finally renamed to JavaScript. It was created for Netscape Browsers because the founder of Netscape believed that there needed to be an easy to use code written directly in the web page markup.
Who Created JavaScript?
Brandan Eich created JavaScript. He was recruited by Netscape to create the language. He wrote the first JavaScript prototype in 10 days, in May of 1995
