Recorders are one of the most popular instruments among children. Many schools require them for certain band programs. As with all things, records require a little bit of regular maintenance. It’s best to wash recorders about every 1-2 weeks depending on how heavily it is used.
Steps To Clean a Recorder
- Take the mouthpiece off of the recorder. Most records have mouthpieces that can be twisted off.
- Fill up the kitchen sink with hot water and a small squirt of dish soap
- Place the recorder and the mouthpiece in the water. Allow these to sit for 10 minutes.
- Take a dishcloth and gently scrub the recorder and mouthpiece. Try to scrub inside of both pieces as well.
- Take a cotton swab and clean any openings and holes
- Rinse the recorder and mouthpiece and air dry. Then you are done.
